A few places on Technet mention that the Exchange 2010 SP3 installer can take a very long time to finish the Languages step if Real Time Protection is enabled in Forefront, but I don’t see anybody mentioning that this also applies to Security Essentials. Obvious when you think about it since they share an engine, but worth making a note of.
Using VMWare Converter 5.0.1 with Ubuntu 12.04

I can confirm this is true. I was in the minute 32 of the Languages step. Disabled the antivirus and it only took 30 more seconds to finish…

Confirmed this works while installing Exchange 2010 on Server 2012 running System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection. After waiting 52min for Languages, I disabled AV and it took about 30 seconds to complete the Languages phase.
